Easy To Clean They thought it was really annoying to use brushes to clean those narrow neck bottles. So they made theirs with a super wide opening so that you can easily clean them by hand.

Soft & Squeezy Babies are quite active with their itty bitty hands during feeding time. So they used a soft, skin-like silicone material to offer better grip and a soothing, calming feel

Frequently Asked Questions Q. Are the silicone bottles safe with washing brush? A. You can certainly use your bottle brush to clean their bottles. However, they think that bottle brushes aren't too hygienic since they cannot be sterilized. Since their bottles have a super wide opening and has minimal parts, they highly recommend simply hand cleaning them. Just one less thing to worry about!

Q. Help! The nipple keeps collapsing! A. Over time, milk residues can get trapped in the vent and prevent it from working properly. The best thing to do is to make sure that the ends of the vents (back of the nipple) are clear and free from any blockage. You can easily clean them with your fingers in warm water. Also, you can sterilize the nipple in boiling water for about 5 full minutes to clear out anything that may be clogged in the vent. But if this doesn't fix the issue, please contact them and they'll be more than happy to help you! (See the instruction down below for more detials.)

Q. Can I purchase parts (e.g. bottle rings, caps)? A. For the time being, they do not sell parts separately. However, if you are in desperate need, please contact them at [email protected]/* */.

Q. My bottle changed color, how do I remove this? A. Over time, it is possible for silicone to slightly change in color. However, please be assured that this is purely cosmetic and that they are perfectly safe to use. To prevent discoloration, they recommend that the bottles are well washed after each use and frequently sterilized (at least once a week in boiling water for 5 minutes).

Q. Are the silicone bottles safe in boiling water? A. Yes. Silicone is highly heat resistant. Their bottles are safe in temperature up to 248F. They recommend sterilizing their bottle in boiling water for approximately 5 minutes. To be safe, please avoid direct contact of their bottles with the boiling pot.

Q. My bottle has a slight odor, how do I get rid of it? A. Like most containers, their bottles can retain some odor after extended use. Here is a tip from a savvy mom: Sterilize Comotomo bottles in boiling water for 5 minutes with a tiny bit of baking soda. Afterwards, air-dry the bottles (open side up) in a well ventilated area. This should help get rid of any smell in the bottle. Hope this helps!

Why Nipple Confusion is a Problem Regardless of what some doctors believe, nipple confusion among infants and babies is a real problem faced by many breastfeeding mothers. Though it is impossible to pinpoint which baby will suffer from nipple confusion, the signs of the issue are simple to spot. When a baby who is breastfed is required to also eat from artificial nipples thorough bottle feeding, they may become confused as to how to drink from both. The confusion stems from the fact that two feeding methods entail different skills required on the baby's part. The mouth and tongue movements are different when eating from the breast than those required when eating from the bottle. Because flow rates differ between natural and artificial nipples, and require work on the part of the baby, he/she may develop of preference for one manner of feeding over the other. If your baby is confused by the differing nipples, he/she is likely to do one or more of the following:

  • Repeatedly thrusts the tongue upward and pushes the breast out of the mouth
  • Doesn't fully open the mouth, sucking only the tip of mom's nipple.
  • Becomes irritable and fussy when breastfeeding because of the reduced amount of milk
  • Refuses the breast completely.

Preventing the likelihood of nipple confusion takes a few steps but is worth it. One recommended way to avoid nipple confusion is to not introduce the baby to the bottle until after the first six weeks of life. This will allow your baby enough time to learn how to breastfeed and to get your milk supply established and flowing at a better rate.

Make sure to breastfeed your baby when all is calm. An irritated baby is one that is not likely to be one that latches on easily. Pump some milk before attempting to get baby to feed so that they don't have to do the necessary work of getting your milk to "come down". While nursing, keep your baby close to you, making sure to have skin to skin contact.

The choice of artificial nipples can also have an impact on whether a baby is confused by breastfeeding also. Selecting a nipple that more closely resembles the natural shape and feel of a mother's breast is key in reducing the likelihood of nipple confusion or breast rejection. Comotomo nipples are made from medical-grade silicone and are mounded to closely mimic the natural shape of the breast. Because of their pleasing feel and shape, babies are less likely to have to learn how to use Comotomo bottle nipples; reducing the risk of bottle rejection or nipple confusion.

Making the Transition from Breast to Bottle an Easy One Imagine if, out of the blue, someone up and changed everything you knew about food. How you enjoy it; how it's delivered - even how it feels in your mouth. Say, instead of a fork or a spoon, you were now expected to eat from a spatula; without warning or training. Now, maybe you can get just a bit of an idea of how it must seem to an infant to be suddenly forced to switch from breast to bottle feeding.

Yes, they know it seems a bit harsh. But they believe that understanding feeding time from the baby's point of view is imperative to successfully accomplishing the transition from breastfeeding to bottle. Allowing your infant plenty of time to switch, without showing signs of anxiety or frustration, is imperative to experiencing the comforting joy that feeding time can provide. Understand that this is a major change in what they've come to know and expect, and it should be approached with patience and care. It is with this belief that they developed what they believe to be the best infant feeding bottle on the market today. By focusing on the best that nature has given people, they've designed Comotomo bottles to mimic the feel and shape of a mother's breast in every way possible.

By using medical-grade silicone, they molded a soft, squeezable body into the shape of a real breast, allowing baby to feel comfort when needed. Their nipples were shaped to as closely resemble that of a human nipple as possible in order to avoid nipple confusion, which often leads to the possibility of baby refusing the bottle altogether. And of course they couldn't forget about Mom and Dad in the process. Another feature that sets Comotomo bottles apart from the pack is their wide-mouthed opening. Meant to make both filling and cleaning easy and convenient, Comotomo bottles have been designed with every family member in mind.

Why Naturally-Shaped Comotomo Bottles Work Better Babies are smarter than people give them credit for. Instinctively, they know when you've turned their little world upside down. Really. You thought you'd put away Mom's goodies and replace them with a stiff, awkwardly-shaped, funny-tasting object that is in stark contrast to everything they've known all of their lives? Sorry, your baby will notice the difference and will most likely, and understandably, reject it.

What infants know is eating and sleeping. At a certain age, you can add a certain level of learning and interacting. But at its most basic, your baby's day is spent just trying to sustain their new life form. What is funny is how many new parents expect to make the transition from the breast to the bottle with no objection from the one person that is affected by it the most. If you suddenly removed your baby from the comforts of their soft and warm crib or bassinet and expected them to sleep on the cold kitchen floor, you would probably expect some negative feedback. But give them a bottle that is of the equivalent of an uncomfortable sleeping situation and nobody understands the issue.

At Comotomo, they get it. Traditional baby bottles don't come close to offering what nature gave people in the human breast. Mom's breasts inherently offer comfort along with sustenance and gave us the perfect prototype for developing a baby bottle that makes standard bottles obsolete. Every aspect of the Comotomo bottle was intended to poach upon mother nature's unique design. From the rounded, soft and squeezable body to the mounded, naturally-shaped nipple, Comotomo baby bottles let your baby feel as if all is right in his tiny little world; making the transition from breast to bottle, one that is barely noticed.

Tips and Tricks to Keep Baby from Refusing the Bottle After years of research and development, trial and error, and questioning their own answers, they believe that by getting back to nature at its simplest forms, they've developed the baby bottle that all breastfeeding mothers need. One of the most distressing issues a young mother faces is when her baby refuses the bottle. Not only is it frustrating, but it can bring up worries about proper nutrition and growth. Breastfeeding babies that start to prefer to only feed from the breast need to be gently persuaded to use the bottle whenever the need arises. They know…. easier said than done. However, other than recommending the use of Comotomo bottles during feeding time, these other tips may help when your baby refuses to feed from the bottle:

  • Let Dad participate - Babies are smart enough to understand just who owns the breasts in the family. Often times, your baby knows that if Mom is doing the feeding, she's got the goods that he/she really wants, and therefore will refuse to eat from the bottle. Letting Dad or someone else feed the baby until he/she is past the refusal stage works best with mom out of sight and out of mind.
  • Pay attention to timing - When attempting to bottle feed a breast-dependent baby, try to do so earlier in the day. It has been shown, that because of the need for Mom's comfort, babies are less likely to take the bottle during evening and night-time feedings.
  • Present a good attitude - Sometimes, your baby may seem to have an anxiety radar; picking up on your frustration and concern regarding their desire to feed. Watch your attitude, making sure to disguise your fear and apprehension while feeding. Instead, remember that this time is supposed to be comforting and enjoyable for both of you. Smile, sing and take your time to ease everybody into it.
  • Be firm - Expect that your baby will try to reject the bottle initially, but it is up to you to not fold as soon as you experience resistance. Be persistent in your attempts. If your baby shakes her head or arches away from the bottle, gently put down your baby and move out of sight. After just a few moments, return to cuddle and try again. Keep that good attitude up during these attempts.
  • Don't use breastfeeding as a default - Going immediately back to breastfeeding at the first sign of refusal will only prolong the the problem. Again, be firm and persistent.
  • Try a little variety - Though you are pumping breast milk in order to feed your baby the best nature has to offer, giving your baby something different can help guard against bottle rejection. For babies older than three months, try giving them apple juice. If successful, try returning to breast milk or your milk mixed with formula. Try to only use juice in small doses as baby can get used to the taste and it can cause future dental issues.
  • Remind the baby that you are never far away - When other caretakers are attempting to bottle feed the baby, give them one of mom's unwashed t-shirts to wrap or cushion the bottle in and place the baby in the breastfeeding position. The t-shirt carries the scent of mom, comforting the baby as he/she feeds.

At Comotomo, they understand the frustration that parents experience when their baby unexpectedly rejects the bottle and refuses anything other than mom's breast. Which is why they've developed the one bottle that mimics mom's natural form and shape in every way. Discover the Comotomo difference and make the transition from breast to bottle a gentle, enjoyable one for everyone involved.

Why Comotomo is the Best Infant Feeding Bottle As parents, they often look for the very best for their children. From the diapers they put on their little behinds to the colleges that they hope to send them to one day; they believe that only the optimum is good enough for their kids. Until it comes to feeding them. Sure, you've done the research about the advantages of breastfeeding and making your own baby food. You've looked into all the reasons you should or should not make certain foods a part of their daily diet; you've even thought about going completely organic. But how much consideration have you given to the bottle with which you use to feed your little one?

What you may not understand when it comes to baby bottles, is that the standard that they've been used to for so long, the bottles with which their parents fed them (and their parents before them and their parents before them) are not the bottles that are best for nursing and feeding. There is a better choice available. A choice that makes the act of bottle feeding your baby a joy; a choice that ensures that bottle rejection is virtually eliminated; a choice the helps baby to be satisfied without the risk of gas and colic.

With innovative thinking, that considers the baby's feeding experience, they've used the best of what mother nature has given them as a model for Comotomo baby bottles. Manufactured with medical-grade silicone, their infant feeding bottles are soft and pliable; meant to allow a baby's squeezing hands to grip and feel while nursing for comforting satisfaction. Mimicking mom's breast, the rounded mound-shape and naturally-feeling nipple further keep your baby from refusing to eating from the bottle. Allowing both parent and baby to experience the joy of building those first bonds through nursing. Industry experts, pediatricians and parents around the world continue to name Comotomo bottles as the best feeding bottles for infants and babies. About Comotomo It all began with a simple question… 'Why?' Most people see a baby bottle and think modern invention. But did you know that the first "feeding vessels" dates back to 2000 B.C.? Since then, baby bottles have come a long way from clay pots, cow horns, porcelain, and most recently, plastic standing bottles. In many sense, however, the design intention had always been from the perspective of "us", the adults.

So they asked a simple question…'Why?' Isn't it about time that they design something with a pure intention for "them", their little ones? With that intention as the driving force behind every thing they do, they created a new baby bottle that babies would ask them for if they could. Shaped like mom, Comotomo bottles help reduce the instances where baby might refuse the bottle; plus, the silicone-based, mounded body comforts with its soft, pliable feel. Equipped with anti-colic vents, they also help reduce the likelihood of colic and gas. Finally, with Mom and Dad in mind, they made the opening of their infant bottles to be extra wide; making cleaning a breeze.

Why reinvent the wheel? It seems that baby teethers come in more sizes and shapes than you can imagine. In coming up with their design, they were inspired to go back to the fundamentals. The truth is, your baby already has the most well designed teething toy out there. It just so happens to be his or her itty bitty fingers. So they simply copied from the best with just a bit of a twist.
